EDHC 4200: Health and Career Education – Sustainability in the Classroom Inquiry Presentation
When tasked with researching and presenting an inquiry that I had about a health or career topic, I chose to present on how to integrate environmental sustainability into a classroom setting. I presented my findings to a group of Teacher Candidates in my cohort for the Bachelor of Education program at Thompson Rivers University. By researching sustainable practices that can be implemented in classrooms for this assignment, I have learned how to integrate sustainability effectively into different subjects, and I have learned a variety of ways to inspire students to become environmentally conscious. Some of which include modelling sustainability practices for my students, engaging in outdoor learning, doing project-based learning, and adopting sustainable classroom practices. Overall, completing this assignment has solidified my commitment to teaching sustainability in the future.

EDSO 3200: Social Studies Methods – Eco-club and Composting Program Presentation
When tasked with developing a social justice education initiative, I created a presentation that outlined the development of an eco-club and composting program in an elementary school setting. I presented this to a group of Teacher Candidates in my cohort for the Bachelor of Education program at TRU. Researching and developing a plan for an eco-club and composting program has expanded my understanding of sustainability education. Through my research on this topic, I have learned about strategies and the best practices for leading an eco-club, such as the importance of setting goals, connecting and collaborating with other schools, and making it fun for students. Additionally, doing this project has taught me how to facilitate teamwork and empower student leadership, as well as how to share my knowledge with peers. In the future, I hope to lead a school eco-club for intermediate students, so as to inspire students to become leaders of climate action.
