Work Experience with the Lillooet Regional Invasive Species Society
My work experience with the Lillooet Regional Invasive Species Society has helped shape me into a leader of environmental sustainability. Through outreach in schools and community events, I have built on my ability to effectively communicate as well as increased my knowledge on ecosystem conservation. This has allowed me to help students and community members develop a deeper understanding and connection to environmental sustainability through invasive species prevention. With this understanding and connection, I believe that I have helped to inspire youth and adults alike to be more environmentally conscious. Additionally, supervising a co-worker as a crew lead has further developed my soft skills, which include teamwork, communication, adaptability, and creativity. These skills have made me a more effective leader of environmental sustainability and I will use them when teaching students in my future school and classroom. This position taught me about the specific threats that invasive species pose to environmental sustainability, including their impacts on ecosystems, biodiversity, and human health. Being knowledgeable on the subject of environmental sustainability is crucial for educating others on the subject.
