First Peoples Principles of Learning

The First Peoples Principles of Learning (FPPOL) include nine principles and were developed in 2006/2007 by Indigenous Elders, scholars, and knowledge keepers. The FPPOL were established to guide the development of the BC curriculum, and to help teachers better understand Indigenous perspectives, ways of being, and ways of knowing. Obtaining this understanding and incorporating the FPPOL into my teaching practice will allow me to improve the success of my Indigenous students, and better my students’ understanding of Indigenous perspectives and worldviews.
